Badger Precollege offers high school students finishing grades 9–12 the opportunity to learn more about college life and academics, develop their independence and pursue new and growing interests. It's an invaluable opportunity for your students to explore their futures, both inside and outside the classroom.

Here are just a few courses we're offering this summer:

Accelerated Learning Program (ALP) | June 28–July 17
Abnormal Psychology

lets you explore how psychologists understand mental health through real examples and scientific research. You'll learn what makes behavior "normal" or "abnormal," examine major disorders and see how different therapies help people. The course builds your confidence as a thinker while strengthening your empathy and insight into mental health.

Introduction to Finance

gives you a clear, hands-on look at how businesses, markets and the global economy actually work. You'll explore how companies raise money, what drives economic growth and why financial decisions matter on a large scale. Through real-world cases and interactive activities, you'll build a strong foundation for future studies in business and economics.

Badger Summer Scholars | July 19–31
Intersections of Governance

gives you a big picture look at how law, politics and public policy shape the world around you. You'll explore how legal systems work, how political forces influence lawmaking and how real policies take shape. Through cases and discussions, you’ll build the skills to analyze today's governance challenges and imagine future paths in law and public service.

Think STEM

introduces you to the big ideas driving computer science and physical science today, from energy data to climate solutions and cybersecurity. You'll get hands-on experience with core CS concepts, explore cutting-edge research at UW–Madison and discover the many career paths — from software to AI — that could match your interests. Guest speakers and real-world examples help you see where your STEM future could lead.

BioFrontiers

gives you a hands-on look at the many fields that make up the life sciences, from genetics and microbiology to ecology and medical research. You'll explore real lab work, campus field trips and emerging technologies while discovering the career paths these areas can lead to. The course helps you see how biology drives real-world problem-solving and global change.

Summer Arts Clinic | July 12–18
Exploring Architecture Through Miniature Models

lets you dive into architectural design by creating your own small-scale pavilion. You'll experiment with space, form and function while learning the basics of design and model construction. The workshop gives you a creative, hands-on way to explore how architects bring ideas to life.
